About Biddy Enterprises

A Halifax sourcing firm that exists to move overseas products into Canadian hands — properly certified, properly distributed, and built to hold up in the market.

What we are

Biddy Enterprises Ltd works with manufacturers outside North America — most often in China — who have a proven product and want a Canadian market for it. We handle the parts that are difficult to manage from abroad: what the regulations require, what needs to change about the product, who will carry it, and how it reaches customers.

We are based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the Atlantic coast where Canada's east-coast container traffic arrives. That keeps us near the customs brokers, testing bodies and logistics operators the work depends on.

How we're different

We are not a trading house. We do not buy your goods at a discount and resell them, and we are not paid by the distributors we introduce you to. We work for the manufacturer, and we say so plainly when a product is not ready for this market or when the economics do not support entry.

Our clients usually come to us after discovering that an approval earned elsewhere does not carry into Canada, or that a distributor they found online cannot actually place their product.

Leadership

Jason Nicholas Ranni — Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Jason is an entrepreneur and operator with a record of building and scaling technology and consumer hardware ventures.

In 2020 he founded Boardwalk Bicycles, an electric mobility company working on urban transportation, assembling a distributed team across four continents and taking the company through research, development and prototyping. On the strength of its intellectual property, design pipeline, team and market position, third-party investors valued the company at roughly $10 million while it was still pre-commercial.

Before that he founded and led Benchmark Resourcing, a technology talent and consulting firm he bootstrapped to sustained seven-figure annual revenue, building partnerships with executive leadership at Long View Systems, CGI, SNC-Lavalin and other major North American enterprises.

Outside of his own ventures, Jason has sat on the boards of several non-profit organisations, overseeing operating and capital budgets in the eight figures. He has also directed complex construction mediation and litigation against large condominium developers, negotiating a multi-million-dollar settlement on behalf of stakeholders.

That combination — hardware development, supply chains, enterprise relationships and hard negotiation — is the work Biddy does for its clients.
